If you are a D cup or above, you have probably noticed that most mainstream lingerie shops stop being useful around the same place your size starts. The bras get smaller, the choices narrower, and the support quietly disappears. The good news: a handful of brands have spent decades fixing this problem.
Below are the brands I recommend most often for full-bust fits — D cup through K cup, sizes 28 to 44. They are not the only good options, but they are reliable starting points if you are looking to spend money on a bra that will actually fit.
The full-bust brand recommendations
01 Bravissimo
Bravissimo is the closest thing to a guarantee in the full-bust world. They are a specialist retailer (their own brands plus partner labels), with broad sizes, free in-store fitting in UK locations, and an online shop with detailed fit notes on every product.
Best for- First-time full-bust shoppers who want to be told what to try
- Anyone struggling to find above a UK G cup elsewhere
- Petite frames with full busts (their 28 and 30 bands are excellent)
Slightly higher price point than mainstream brands, but quality and longevity justify it. The own-brand "Pepperberry" line offers more affordable options.
Shop at Bravissimo →02 Curvy Kate
Curvy Kate is the brand that proves full-bust bras do not have to be beige. Bright colours, playful prints, deep cups designed specifically for fuller chests. The fit is generous in volume, so if you are between sister sizes, go with the smaller one.
Best for- Anyone tired of "minimiser" beige in their size
- Fuller-on-bottom shapes (their cups are deeper at the base)
- Lingerie sets — their matching knickers are widely available
03 Panache
Panache builds bras that work under demanding clothes — fitted dresses, white shirts, the kind of outfits where you cannot have anything moving around. Strong band construction, firm support, sportier silhouette. Their sports bras are widely considered the best in the full-bust space.
Best for- Active lifestyles — running, gym, sport
- Work wardrobes that demand a flat, smooth silhouette
- Anyone whose previous bras have stretched out within months
04 Elomi
Elomi specialises in larger band sizes and extended cups, with softer constructions that feel less aggressively structured than some of the more "fashion" brands. If Bravissimo and Curvy Kate stop where your size starts, Elomi is where you go next.
Best for- K cups and beyond, where most brands stop
- Larger band sizes (38–46) with full cups
- Comfort-first shoppers who want softer fabrics and less wire
05 Freya
A sister brand to Panache, but more design-led and slightly more youthful. Freya's strength is the range — they have plain T-shirt bras, balconies, plunges, sports bras, and seasonal prints, all in the same size range. A good "fill your wardrobe with one brand" option once you know your Freya size.
Best for- Building a versatile bra wardrobe from one fit you trust
- Younger shoppers who want full-bust support without "shapewear" aesthetic
- The Freya "Deco" — a moulded plunge bra that's been a cult favourite for years
How to choose between them
If you are just starting out and unsure where to begin, here is the simple decision tree:
- Want someone to guide you? Start at Bravissimo. They will do the work for you.
- Want to look forward to wearing it? Curvy Kate or Freya for colour and design.
- Want it to last through serious wear? Panache for structure and durability.
- Above a G cup? Try Elomi first — they specialise where others stop.
What about the high street?
Mainstream UK retailers — Marks & Spencer, John Lewis, Boux Avenue — have all expanded their full-bust ranges in the last few years. They are worth checking, especially M&S, where the free in-store fitting service is excellent. But the specialist brands above will almost always have better cuts, deeper cups, and stronger support construction at any given size above a D cup.
If you have only ever bought bras from high-street shops and your size sits above DD, trying a proper full-bust brand once is genuinely revelatory. Most people remember it.
A note on sizing across these brands
Even within the full-bust specialist world, sizing varies. Curvy Kate runs slightly generous; Panache runs slightly small; Freya is somewhere in the middle. Bravissimo's own fit notes on each product page tell you which way to size if you are unsure.
If you have never bought from any of them before, the safest approach is to order your calculated size and your sister size up at the same time, try both, and return the one that does not work. All five brands have generous returns policies on unworn bras.
